Summer Workshop – Classes

Participants get to take classes based on their prior stage combat experience and education. In all classes, emphasis is put on combining safety, artistic value and technique. In addition, participants occasionally tend to have fun.

There will be five classes/time slots each day. The first four will contain weapons and training for the NSFS certification system and will be chosen for the entire workshop. The last class each day will be a special classes on mixed subjects, new weapons and possibility to train choreographies for showcase and test fights.

The nine weapons in the NSFS certification system are divided into three blocks with three weapons in each block. Block 1 contains single rapier, broadsword, and unarmed combat. Block 2 focuses on two handed weapons and contains quarterstaff, rapier & dagger, and sword & shield. Block 3 focuses on weapons with smaller target areas and stylized movement and contains knife, smallsword, and theatrical martial arts.

In addition, the summer workshop have two additional blocks, the introduction block for those with none or little previous NSFS training, and the advanced training block.

When registering for the workshop, you need to choose which level of classes you participate. If you are chosing classes with participation and/or test requirements, you will need to list your fulfillment of the requirements when registering. If you have any questions regarding the requirements and whether your prior training and tests fulfill them, please contact workshop principal Kristoffer Jørgensen, (arcticaction@gmail.com, phone +47 90083134) and he will help you out. Note that it’s allowed to both re-take a class and re-test a weapon that you’ve already passed a test in.
